Matador model was created in 1973. Totally new car design with new sport shapes aimed to be competition for middle size cars and NASCAR winner vehicle in one body ... Indeed, the car was nice and hit the attention of people and specialists from the first strike.

In the first year of appearance (1974) 62.269 units were sold. Next years were not so happy - the Matador got best notes with either the 360 or 401 V8 engines, but that was the top- and most expensive models, the basic line was "too weak". The Coupe survived untill 1978 with total sales of 94.468 units. What a pity...
